HAZSITE DATABASE SUBMITTAL SYSTEM (HDSS)

I. Introduction

This is a readme.txt file that accompanies the HazSite Database Submittal System (HDSS) application, referred to as "HazSite". It provides the latest information of the HDSS as well as installation instructions. Future updates and versions will be distributed via the Site Remediation Program's web page: www.state.nj.us/dep/srp.

The HDSS and all of its associated materials, herein called collectively 'the application', are copyrighted by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, herein called 'the Department'. The Department is making the application available for use without warranty.

The Department is freely distributing the application for the expressed purpose of assisting regulated entities to submit data in electronic format to the Department as may be required by administrative rule and/or order. The application can not be sold or distributed by any person or organization for any fee. The application can not be distributed by any person nor any organization without the written consent of the Assistant Commissioner for Site Remediation.

The application is designed to facilitate the electronic submittal of site sampling data to the Department. Any data submitted using the application or any reports produced by the application are only for informational purposes and do not represent the official and valid review of the data by the Department.

II. Installation

Windows 95 or Windows 98 Users

Internet or DEP Bulletin Board

  1. 1. Unzip the Hazsite zip file into a new subdirectory, Not C:\HAZSITE

  2. Select the "Start" button

  3. Select "Run"

  4. Run "Setup" from the newly created subdirectory

Diskettes

  1. Insert Disk 1 into floppy drive, assumed herein to be the A: drive.

  2. Select the "Start" button

  3. Select "Run"

  4. Run "a:/setup"

To run the HazSite application, double-click the HazSite icon when the installation is completed.

III. SRP-Electronic Data Interchange Manual (SRP-EDI)

The Department issues an EDI Manual of which the SRP contributes one Section, referred to herein as SRP-EDI. Provided with the HazSite application are the definitions of all HazSite fields, as excerpted from SRP-EDI. Interested parties can obtain the entire SRP-EDI Manual in one of four ways:

  1. The DEP Bulletin Board, (609) 292-2006, called SRP-EDI.ZIP.
    (Note: The DEP BBS is no longer in operation.)

  2. The DEP Home Page, http://www.state.nj.us/dep/srp. Then select "Regulations and Guidance" topic.

  3. On diskette by sending a request to the address below under IV. Technical Assistance.

  4. In hard copy by sending a request to the address below under IV. Technical Assistance.

The formats available are:

  1. An ASCII text file named SRP_EDI5.TXT, and
  2. A portable document format (PDF) file named SRP_EDI5.PDF

The ASCII text file can be imported into all the major word processors. The PDF file can be read using any PDF reader.
