Richard J. Badolato Sworn In as Commissioner of the
New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance

TRENTON — Union County Superior Court Assigning Judge Karen M. Cassidy and Appellate Division Superior Court Judge Heidi Willis Currier administered the oath of office to Commissioner of the Department of Banking and Insurance Richard J. Badolato yesterday at a ceremony at the State House in front of his family and Governor Chris Christie.

“It is a tremendous honor and a privilege to serve as Commissioner of the Department of Banking and Insurance,” said Badolato. “I look forward to continuing to serve the people of New Jersey and carrying out the Department’s mission to protect consumers and promote the growth and stability of the industries DOBI regulates.”

Governor Christie named Badolato as Commissioner last June; the Senate Judiciary approved the appointment, followed by a full Senate confirmation last month.

Before he was named as commissioner, Badolato was an award-winning veteran civil litigator and partner in the Connell Foley law firm in Roseland. His nearly five-decade experience spans trial and appellate levels of State and Federal Courts. In addition to his many other appointments, Badolato is the former president of both the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association.

Badolato earned his law degree from Rutgers University and his undergraduate degree from Fairfield University. He and his wife Betty reside in Verona. They have five children.
