Abstract:
The vision for our 21st CCLC Program is to provide a comprehensive afterschool program, which will enhance academic skills, cultural and artistic opportunities, positive youth development experiences, improve social skills, active physical development and participation in sports to enable our students to improve their performance across academic areas.  This will be evidenced by improved performance on the New Jersey benchmark assessments, NJ ASK 5-6, improved attendance, and reduction in referrals for disciplinary reasons. The 21st Century Community Learning Center Program allows all 5-6th grade participating students and their families to be able to take advantage of enrichment activities not currently available in the Pemberton School Community. The program offers diverse clubs and activities based on a rotating schedule every 7-8 weeks throughout the school year.  Among the activities offered are: intramural sports, technology, science club, yearbook, Nifty Needlers, Scrapbooking, Healthy Cooking, Photo Club, Newsletter, board games, cheerleading, theatre arts, band and bowling.  These clubs will offer academic enrichment in a more relaxed and interesting setting, where students can select semester-long activities according to their interests and preferences. Students will interact with college mentors, teachers, parents, and volunteers.  Students are also participating in community Service projects which provide an opportunity to contribute to the school community and the larger community in conjunction with Pemberton Library and Buttonwood Hospital.  Parents are invited to attend a Showcase of program activities to learn more about their child’s progress with projects and activities.  Students also participate in field trips throughout the year. Trips are planned for Saturdays to museums, farms, newspapers, and other program related sites.
