The REACH Program was created in 2001 through the Federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program grant. The program is located in the Phillipsburg Middle School and is designed to address the educational, recreational, social, cultural, emotional, and physical needs of the students. The afterschool program operates from 3:00-6:00 throughout the school year and includes small group tutoring, homework help, and educational activities. Daily recreational activity choices may consist of sports, yoga, kick boxing, theater activities, dance workshops, cooking, science activities, child care preparation courses, arts and crafts, and team-building activities. Students also have access to counseling and nursing services during this time. Family Night activities are held one night per month and parent workshops are offered one time per quarter. During the six-week summer program, the hours of operation are 9:00-3:00, Monday-Friday. The summer consists of a mixture of educational and recreational activities, as well as a weekly educational field trip.
