New Jersey Caring Schools Inclusion Project

Cinnaminson Middle School is proud to be part of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Community of Caring character education network and the New Jersey Caring Schools Inclusion Project.  A building level Community of Caring Committee is made up of volunteer teachers who design an action plan for the school year.  Throughout the year, all teachers incorporate the five core values of caring, respect, responsibility, trust, and family into their academic lessons across the curriculum.  A laminated poster is displayed in each classroom to remind students of the five key words.  The Community of Caring logo is also part of all school communications.  Various assembly programs throughout the year are tied to the core values.  Several staff members attend the National Community of Caring Conference annually to network with other schools and to obtain new ideas for improving the culture and climate of the school.  As a member of the NJ Caring Schools Inclusion Project, all teachers participated in several in-service trainings before implementing the Community of Caring program.  Students and staff provide information about the school’s climate in surveys conducted throughout the year.  NJCSIP and Rutgers University analyze the information and provide feedback to guide the school in the development of its action plan.
