Uses of ARRA Educational Technology (Title II Part D) Funds
ARRA Title II Part D funds offer an unprecedented opportunity to provide additional assistance to schools in order to implement 21st century classrooms using innovative strategies that enhance instruction, facilitate teaching and learning, and improve student achievement. These additional resources will enable eligible local educational agencies (LEAs) and eligible local entities to provide new and emerging technologies, create state-of-the-art learning environments, and offer additional training and support for teachers to help students achieve academically and acquire the skills needed to compete in a global economy. Four principles guide the distribution and use of ED’s ARRA funds, including the Title II-D funds: (1) spend funds quickly to save and create jobs; (2) improve student achievement through school improvement and reform; (3) ensure transparency, reporting, and accountability; and (4) invest one-time ARRA funds thoughtfully to minimize the “funding cliff.”
New Jersey’s ARRA Title II Part D funds will be awarded through a discretionary grant opportunity entitled Teaching & Learning with Essential New Technologies in the 21st Century (TALENT21).
The ARRA Title II Part D fund allocation available to New Jersey eligible LEAs is $11,373,944 and the entire allocation will be awarded through the TALENT21 discretionary grant opportunity.
