
The NJ Department of Education (NJ DOE) oversees the development and implementation of school effectiveness initiatives and targeted interventions for schools in need of improvement to meet the requirements of the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (NJQSAC). It also supports the Collaborative Assessment and Planning for Achievement (CAPA) process and assists with the development of targeted interventions for schools and districts in need of improvement. In addition, there is oversight of Charter Schools beginning with the application and approval process and continuing with providing state guidance for all issues regarding New Jersey’s charter schools
The framework for planning and continuous improvement utilizes research-based strategies and protocols based on data, needs and outcomes. The NJ DOE also provides guidance on professional development opportunities for school and district improvement. Systemic change and improvement in schools and districts is supported through creative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
