The New Jersey Department of Education (Department) is responsible for approving these educator preparation programs. In 2014, the Department launched the State Program Approval Council (SPAC) to ensure that voices and expertise from the P-12 and higher-education communities are included in these program reviews. In the future, new instructional, educational leadership, educational services, and teacher leadership programs will submit applications for approval. SPAC members will provide feedback on the quality of preparation programs seeking approval to begin or continue operating in New Jersey.
