Successful transitioning of preschool children with disabilities to general education kindergarten classrooms occurs when parents and school staff collaboratively plan and implement specific activities prior to, during and following entrance to kindergarten. The workshop will present a transition planning process and action steps to address individual student needs in relation to the routines and activities of the kindergarten setting. The information will be useful to preschool and kindergarten staff as they plan for the transition of students with disabilities from preschool to general education kindergarten programs.
Audience: Special education teachers, general education kindergarten teachers, child study team members, special education supervisors and school–based administrators who are responsible for the transition of preschool children with disabilities to general education kindergarten programs.
