Training/Consultation Services
The LRC staff provides regional in-service workshops, training institutes, statewide conferences, consultations, LRC orientations, and technical assistance to educators and parents of students with disabilities.
Current special education information is available at the LRCs through library media, professional journals, video/DVD collections, and access to on-line research. Twice a year, each LRC issues a Resource Report that highlights information and activities relevant to educators and parents having responsibility for children and youth with disabilities ages 3-21.
Materials Circulation Services
The LRCs maintain and loan an extensive collection of professional books, in-service training resources, activity books, videos/DVDs and instructional materials to support all areas of the general education curriculum. Visit the center nearest you or search the center collections via the internet (see instructions below).
Ideas are available for the development of teacher and parent-made learning materials. Services include lettering machines, laminating, transparency making, button making, poster making and photocopying. Supplies are available for purchase.
Each center operates a Van Outreach service for delivery of resources within its region. The vans deliver a variety of classroom materials and professional resources (videos/DVDs, games, books, and kits) to participating schools. Contact your regional LRC for information about qualifying for van outreach services.
Internet Access to the LRC Library System
You will be directed to the simple search screen. There is no need to “log in” for searching. Simply enter a title, author, keyword, or subject, and click on the appropriate box. You will get a listing of the materials that match your search criterion. To view more details click on the title. You can place materials that interest you in a “Save Basket”. (Just click on the “+” sign.) The saved materials can be viewed or printed later by clicking on “Save Basket” on the left side of the screen. This does not hold the materials in the library, but simply provides a “shopping list” for you to use when you visit the center to check out the materials.
