Sam Podietz of Lumberton Township (Burlington County), a member of the State Board of Education for the past three years, was sworn-in today to a second term on the State Board. During his first term, Mr. Podietz served on several State Board committees including the communications committee, and the legislative committee. He also served on the government affairs committee of the National Association of State Boards of Education.
"I am very pleased to be serving another term on the State Board," said Podietz. "My number one goal has always been to improve education for New Jerseys children. I anticipate being able to continue to do so."
Mr. Podietz also held public office as both a former mayor and councilman of Lumberton. Before his first appointment to the State Board of Education, Mr. Podietz served on three local boards of education. He is a former member of the Lumberton Township, Rancocas Valley Regional and Burlington County Institute of Technology Boards of Education.
Additionally, Mr. Podietz is the Veterans Services Officer for Burlington County. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Burlington County chapter of the American Red Cross, secretary of the executive committee of the Burlington County Military Affairs Committee, member of the advisory board of the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, member of the National and New Jersey Associations of Veterans Services Officers and as an accredited veterans services officer in Burlington County.
Mr. Podietz was first appointed to the State Board of Education in 1998.
