DOE Staff Member from Brick Township Selected for Leadership Seminars
Marie Barry, acting manager of the Bureau of Career Preparation in the Department of Educations Office of Vocational-Technical, Career and Adult Programs, will participate in a new program designed to enhance leadership in vocational education. Barry, a resident of Brick Township, will attend the first of four three-day seminars on June 26-29 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The seminars, called the National Leadership Institute, were established by the National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education. In addition to the four seminars, the institute consists of frequent internet-based professional development sessions. The purpose of the institute is to build national, state, and local leadership in vocational education.
Barry has been selected to be a 2002-2003 National Leadership Scholar. The Department of Education intends to nominate one or two staff each year and an equal number of individuals from local school districts. The program is modeled after the American Council on Educations Fellows Program.
