Governor James E. McGreevey and Commissioner of Education William L. Librera will host a Teacher Town Meeting for Monmouth County educators on Wednesday, January 29 in Little Silver.

The meeting takes place from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Red Bank Regional High School, 101 Ridge Road.

Reporters and photographers are invited and encouraged to attend.

Governor McGreevey and Commissioner Librera have pledged to meet with teachers in every county in the state in order to both explain the administration’s 21-point educational reform plan and establish an open dialogue with teachers on education issues. Wednesday’s meeting is the fifth in a series of such events.

The Teacher Town Meeting provides an open format for teachers and educators to question the Governor and Commissioner on a wide range of state-level education initiatives and policies.

Both the Governor and Commissioner hosted the fourth in the series of teacher town meetings on Dec. 11 in Ewing, Mercer County ( There, they explained the specific steps the Department of Education is taking to implement the Governor’s education reform agenda.

The agenda includes five components:

  • An emphasis on teacher and administrator quality;
  • Raising student achievement;
  • Highlighting diverse and multiple paths of student success;
  • Supporting innovative and outstanding practices and programs; and
  • Encouraging public engagement and communication.

Both Governor McGreevey and Commissioner Librera are committed to maintaining an open line of communication between the administration and the state’s teachers.
