Symposium V is part of the Northern Region’s ongoing professional development series for instructors and administrators. This meeting will focus on the identification and needs of gifted minority students and discuss best practices in serving this student population.

The event will feature presentations from two educational experts on the topic in the morning session, Dr. Edmund Gordon and Dr. Joan Dawson. The afternoon will allow participants to break into small groups for hands on activities related to the morning’s presentations.

Dr. Edmund Gordon is the John M. Musser Professor of Psychology Emeritus at Yale University. He is also the current director of the Institute for Urban and Minority Education at Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Dr. Gordon has published numerous books and articles addressing the subject of educational equity.
