MEDIA ADVISORY: DOE to Host "Kid Tech Day"
WHEN: Friday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHAT: Kid Tech Day gives students in schools statewide the forum to show how they are using education technology to succeed in school.
WHY: Proposed federal cuts to state education technology budgets undermine these important programs. New Jersey is slated to lose $9 million in funding in the 2006 federal budget.
Education technology is more than computers in a classroom. Its about infusing technology into the classroom so that students have the best opportunities to succeed. Kid Tech Day will show this.
WHERE: The Department of Educations first-floor conference room; 100 River View Plaza, Trenton, NJ 08625.
WHO: More than 100 students and teachers from 14 schools across the state will demonstrate their program in a science fair-like setting.
A list of schools participating is attached. For more information, please contact the Department of Education Public Information Office at (609) 292-1126.
