DOE to Host Upcoming Workshop

Dr. Robert Marzano will discuss student achievement during an April 18 workshop sponsored by the Department of Education and Passaic County Community College.
The workshop, “What Works in Schools: Translating Research into Action,” takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Passaic County Public Safety Academy, 300 Oldham Road in Wayne.        

Dr. Marzano will highlight the following topics during his presentation: delivering a guaranteed and viable curriculum, setting challenging goals, fostering parent and community involvement, establishing a safe and orderly environment and promoting professionalism in the workplace.

Dr. Marzano has spent more than 35 years in education and is the author of 20 books, 150 articles and more than 100 curriculum guides. He has a bachelor’s degree from Iona College, his master’s degree from Seattle University and his doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Washington.

Dr. Marzano has worked in every state in the nation, as well as in Europe and Asia.  His work focuses on translating research and theory into practical programs and tools for K-12 teachers and administrators.

In addition to his duties as president and founder of Marzano & Associates in Colorado, Dr. Marzano is a senior scholar at Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) and an Associate Professor at Cardinal Stritch University.
