Worksheet: Title I Accountability | AYP | Starting Points | Safe Harbor 

  The goal: 100% proficiency by 2014. That is, performance gaps between subgroups of students must be closed.
 

AYP goals

  • All Title I schools and students in the schools are accountable for improvement
  • The starting points are set up in the AYP targets
  • Performance targets are set at 2005, 2008, 2011, and 2014
 

Statewide test results are reported by subgroup, as follows:

  • Total students in School
  • Racial and ethnic groups
  • White, Black, Hispanic, Asian Pacific Islander, and other
  • Economically Disavantage
  • Students with Disabilities (excluding the 1% with severe disabilities)
  • Limited English Proficient (LEP) students
  • Other
 

Assessment

  • Testing grades 3, 4, & 8
 

Flexibility Provisions for the reporting of data include:

  • Mobility
  • Minimum "n" of 20 (if there are fewer than 20 students in a subgroup, this data is not included in the performance calculations leading to AYP)
  • Minimun "n" of 35 for special education.
  • Five - percent misclassification rate (5% is added to the data result)
  • Safe Harbor (see Glossary)
