NEW JERSEY CORE CURRICULUM CONTENT STANDARDS

5.1       Identify the parts of systems and understand how those parts work together.

5.2       Demonstrate investigative abilities by using problem solving skills.

5.3       Recognize that scientific contributions throughout history have come from men and women
            of various cultures.

5.4       Select and use tools appropriately and explain how they work. Explain how technology is
            used to help people.

5.5       Integrate mathematics as a tool for problem-solving in science, and as a means of
            expressing and/or modeling scientific theories.

5.6       Demonstrate an understanding of structure and needs of organisms. Describe, relate, and
            sequence components of biological systems and life cycles.

5.7       Distinguish differences and identify similarities within and between species.

5.8       Describe and classify objects according to their physical properties and recognize that
            matter can be transformed from one state to another.

5.9       Demonstrate the relationship between force and motion. Identify sources and behaviors of
            various forms of energy.

5.10     Describe the materials that form the earth and the processes that affect it.

5.11     Describe the relative motions and positions of the sun, earth, and moon.
