SELECT AND USE TOOLS APPROPRIATELY AND EXPLAIN HOW THEY WORK.


II. KNOWLEDGE STATEMENTS

A STUDENT SHOULD KNOW THAT:

A. TOOLS CAN BE USED FOR EVERYDAY PURPOSES.

  1. Tools to be considered may include maps, hammers, screwdrivers, optical instruments such as magnifiers, and measuring tools such as equal arm balances, thermometers, rulers, timing devices, graduated cylinders, measuring cups.

B. TOOLS ARE USED TO DO THINGS BETTER AND MORE EASILY.

III. SKILL STATEMENTS

A STUDENT SHOULD BE ABLE TO:

  • Select and use tools appropriate to the task.
  • Examine familiar objects and explain how they work.
  • Use tools to make accurate measurements.
