Predicting Reading Achievement of Kindergarten Students Based Upon Prereading Skills and Variables Involving Language and Reading Development in the Home - dissertation abstract by Michelle R. Haney, Georgia State University College of Education. "Using a stepwise regression procedure, the researcher found that verbal fluency, alphabet knowledge, and phonological awareness significantly predicted end-of-the-year reading achievement. Likewise, verbal fluency and phonological awareness were found to predict significantly differences in family literacy variables for children of different reading levels..."
