Administrative Support & Budget/Funding

Administrative Support Needed

Generally, administrative consent is not needed as the use of audio books meet standards and curricula based outcomes.  However, teachers may be inclined to share with administrators the benefits of using audio books in the classroom.  Administrative consent may be required as it relates to budgeting and/or approval for writing of grants.

Budget/Funding Options

  • Teachers wishing to use audio books should budget according to availability of funds.
  • This project calls for an audio book or CD of a given novel. A classroom set of books should be purchased so that each child has their own book to use during reading activity.
  • While most teachers have a CD/cassette player in the classroom, teachers should budget appropriately if they do not have one.  As an alternative, teacher may choose to use their classroom computers to play CD’s; however, computers MUST have speakers to ensure the appropriate volume.
  • Sample budget listed in the appendix.  Costs vary according to company and title.
  • Seek possible mini grants to support project.  See appendix for a sample grant.
