Objectives

This project is designed to be interdisciplinary. Although this project uses Ecuador and the Galapagos, a teacher can adapt the project to teach about any country at any grade level.

The lesson emphasizes
* interrelationship of culture, history and geography with today's economy,
* knowledge of current events, and
* understanding of the Ecuador/Galapagos Islands.

Instruction emphasizes
* interdisciplinary projects, and
* differentiated education (including device on how to modify this lesson to teach students with ADHD).

Teachers will also find the following:
* tips on how educators and high school students can take trips to other countries, or actually get paid, to travel to other countries and cultures
* how to start and continue this kind of project.
