The project activities were developed by a technology education teacher and a computer literacy teacher.
- The full implementation of all, or most, of them requires a fairly substantial initial investment in technology:
- primarily in the accumulation of Lego robotic kits and associated technology, and a smaller amount budgeted annually for replacement parts and software updates.
- Modified versions of the activities were developed over a four-year period until full implementation was possible.
- Technology needed includes:
- one desktop computer per student team
- Microworlds software for Logo programming
- infra-red transmitters for downloading desktop-computer-generated programs into microcomputers
- one Lego microcomputer per student team
- a minimum of two Lego motors per team
- a minimum of one light- and one touch-sensor per team.
- To facilitate the robotic-vehicle challenges, arenas of obstacle courses must be constructed.
