Objectives

Students will use critical thinking skills and will formulate questions based on information needs and use effective strategies for locating information.

Students will identify the geographical, political, and economic factors that influenced the westward movement of settlers.

Students will describe and map the territorial expansion and settlement of the frontier.

Students will develop and deliver a formal presentation based on a central theme (western expansion), including logical sequence, introduction, main ideas, supporting details, and concluding remarks to an audience of peers, younger students, and/or parents.
