Teaching Tolerance Through Drama and Study

Teacher Collaboration

Ann A. Mullen Middle School is organized in instructional teams representing the academics.  Teachers within teams meet every other day for one period allowing for great opportunity to collaborate and work together on projects.

The idea for this project “Teaching Tolerance Through Drama and Study” came from one teacher’s experience in her classroom where a student’s comments were insensitive and grounded in stereotype.  It was the belief of the classroom teacher that through education and example this student’s opinions could be changed.  This student’s opinions did in fact change as a direct result of reading “The Diary of Anne Frank,” viewing videos, reading, and discussion.
