Activity

1. Students will complete a teacher created Poetry Web Quest to become familiar with various types of poetry.

2. Students will select poems that are representative of different poetry styles, writing styles and cultures to create a collection of their favorite poems.

3. Students will write a collection of their own poems based on what they learned from the Web Quest.

4. After the writing process (revise, peer edit etc.), teachers will conference with students to select the poem that will be used for this project.

5. Follow steps on “Scrolling Poetry with Pictures Hand Out.”

Students will enjoy writing poetry when they make their poems come alive with scrolling text, visual imagery and animations.
