Summary

Prompt: Think about any book you read during the holiday break and summarize the story.  

Story

Prompt: Look at this picture (a great deal of detail is needed in the picture) and write a story about what might be happening.

Directions

Description

Story (fable)

Biography

Prompt: Select a figure from a list of famous African Americans and write a short biography. Be sure to explain why this person is important.

Persuasive letter

Prompt: Invent a candy bar and write a letter to explain why a company would want to manufacture it. Use the correct form for a business letter. Use a variety of sentence styles in your letter.

Narration

Prompt: Explain what happened when the class did your favorite experiment in the matter unit from the science textbook. Write in paragraph form and use sequence words to make your writing clear.
