Role
The state is required to adhere to the following when implementing supplemental
educational services statewide.
1. Consult with LEAs, parents, teachers, and other public constituents to promote
maximum participation by providersto ensure that parents have as many choices
as possible.
2. Develop and apply objective criteria to potential providers based on increasing
academic proficiency according to section 1111(b)(1).
3. Maintain an updated list of approved providers across the state, by school
district, from which parents may select.
4. Develop, implement, and publicly report on standards and techniques for monitoring
and evaluating the quality and effectiveness of the services and for withdrawing
approval from providers that fail for 2 consecutive years tocontribute to increasing
the academic proficiency.
5. Provide annual notice to potential providers of supplemental educational services
of the opportunity to provideservices under Title I, Part A and of the applicable
procedures for obtaining approval from the state to be an approved provider of
those services.
