Summarizing

Overview

In this segment, the teacher guides students in summarizing a story by retelling important events from the story and by explaining what the story is all about.

Teaching Idea: Draw and Label Retelling

This strategy incorporates graphic organizing. After students complete their Draw and Label Retelling papers, they share their information with other students.

Note:  The teacher observes students as they complete the activity. She gives support to students who need additional help.
