Guidance - Echo Reading

Overview

The teaching strategy used in this portion of the lesson is called echo reading. In echo reading, the teacher reads aloud a portion of a text. Then the students read the same portion out loud.

Classroom Activity: Observations

Students benefit from an echo reading activity by hearing a fluent model and then having the opportunity to practice flluent reading of the same small passage of text immediately.
