Guidance - Vocabulary

Overview

In this segment of the video, there are vocabulary words on the board. The teacher has the students read sentences with the same vocabulary words, and asks them to define those words. In another activity, she asks the students to match vocabulary cards with the appropriate definition cards.

Classroom Activity: Observations

The teacher allows the students to work together in small groups during the vocabulary word/definition match activity. She also allows the students to work in teams of two or three to read sentences containing the vocabulary words. By doing this, she provides scaffolds for those students who may require more support.
