Overview

The teacher reviews the elements of a thank you note with the class. The students write part of the thank you note. The teacher writes part of the thank you note. This is sometimes called "sharing the pen."

Classroom Activity: Observations

Notice how the teacher keeps the students actively engaged in the activity. Some of the activities correlate to elements of the kinesthetic learning style. For example, the teacher has the students participate in a cheer to spell a word. The teacher also takes an opportunity to give a spelling mini-lesson. She takes her cue from a comment a student makes regarding two words that are somewhat similar in spelling.
