Video-based Reading Strategies and Techniques: Interactive Writing

Glossary

  1. Interactive Writing - The teacher and children "share the pen" at strategic points in the construction of a text. When to engage children in the writing directly is related to the specific goals and specific conventions that need to be learned and reinforced at that specific time.

  2. Read Aloud - Reading aloud to students can be a vehicle for providing information, explaining concepts, and arousing curiosity. Through this activity, a teacher can build and clarify important background knowledge before introducing a new concept or unit of study, and, at the same time, inspire interest conductive to a higher level of learning.
