Overview

The teacher gives each student a picture card. Then, she gives the students instructions to say their picture card words and clap them out. After each student says a word and claps it out correctly, she places it on a chart with numbers that correspond with the number of syllables heard in the words.

Classroom Activity: Observations

Notice how the teacher gives support to students who may have difficulty with the activity. Also notice how the teacher provides an environment where children feel safe in participating in the activity. In the reflection, the teacher mentions use of this as an informal means of assessment.
