Overview

The teacher shows students picture cards and assists in identifying any pictures that may be unfamiliar. This helps to build vocabulary. Then, the teacher and students clap out the number of syllables heard in the spoken words. The students are asked to identify how many syllables they hear and place the picture on a board to note the number of syllables.

During this small group activity, the teacher keeps the students actively engaged. The teacher also supports the group as they complete the activity.
