Practice: Small Group Instruction - Title I Teacher

Now that you've viewed the video and read the Guidance section of this module:

1. Before implementing the video segment activity:
   • Look through a story for rhyming words. Or, select a few words from a story and think of words that would rhyme with them.
   • Cut out pictures from a magazine or create pictures of the words selected.
   • Think about how you will give additional support to students who are having difficulty.
2. Then implement the activity presented in the video segment.
   • Observe student responses. Are the students able to complete this activity satisfactorily? Are the children having difficulty distinguishing the sounds in this activity?

• Also check out Generating Rhymes: Developing Phonemic Awareness from Read*Write*Think. Follow the steps for lesson preparation and Day 1 Instruction. However omit writing down the rhyming words.
