Video-based Reading Strategies and Techniques: Phonics

Assignment

Phonics Assessment

PART ONE Think Ahead
  1. What is phonics?
  2. How is phonics instruction incorporated into your reading program?
  3. Do all children need phonics instruction?
PART TWO

Create a lesson plan for phonics instruction using a read aloud. Also design a set of additional word work activities that can be used in centers to follow up your instruction.

Refer to the lesson plan rubric as a guide. After you have completed your plan, share it with your colleagues. Use the discussion rubric as a guide to determine the level of critique expected if using a discussion board, or modify it for in-person discussions.
