Name Talk: Exploring Letter-Sound Knowledge in the Primary Classroom This lesson invites primary students to share their letter/sound knowledge in a small group and gives teachers an opportunity to assess knowledge in a meaningful context. Grades K-2.
Personal Game Boards Create a file folder game board that can be used for phonics. Grade K.
Word Wizards: Students Making Words This lesson uses an active, hands-on activity in which students learn how to look for patterns in words and how to make new words by adding or changing the sequence of letters. Grades K-2.
Word Sorts for Beginning and Struggling Readers This lesson uses a hands-on word sort to introduce beginning and struggling readers to short-vowel word families. Grades K-2.
