9. Develops a school culture that fosters continuous improvement and that challenges traditional roles and relationships among educators.

9.1 recognizes that collegial support and interaction are essential to the success of every aspect of education.		• Professional Development (PD) Articles, from Summit Education Initiative, Ohio (especially Using Lesson Study to Improve Teaching, and Collaborate).
9.2 provides for ongoing and meaningful collaboration among educators.	NJPEP: • Novice Teachers/Mentors: Mentoring (especially Online Mentoring). NJPEP Research 1. Online mentoring: development of units and lessons; 2001(a project with Fairleigh Dickinson University, and new and experienced teachers). 2. Targeting Standards for Student Achievement; 2003 (a project with K-8 charter schools).	• Online tools, such as TaskStream, Concert and others.
9.3 values individual efforts at self improvement.		• Changing Schools/Changing Practices: Recent Research on Teacher Professionalism (a selection, from Denmark - see especially Developing the Professional Self).
9.4 provides educators with incentives and support to pursue a plan of continuous improvement.
