CTE Submission

General Submission Information

NJ SMART introduced a new data submission set, the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Submission in the 2009-2010 School Year. The CTE Submission collects a set of data elements that provides a more comprehensive picture of students that are enrolled in CTE programs. The collection of this data at the student level allows for improved data quality and capacity for CTE administrators and stakeholders at all levels. It will ultimately lead to the elimination of the Vocational Education Data System (VEDS).  The CTE Submission is required for all LEAs that have a Career and Technical Education program.

CTE Submission takes place only once per year for the June 30th snapshot.  The next Official CTE Submission will take place for the June 30, 2012 submission period.  A practice period for the CTE Submission will be open in the NJ SMART portal in the weeks leading up to the June 30th snapshot.  At the completion of the practice period, all CTE data will be deleted in preparation of the Official CTE Submission.  The CTE Submission Student Data Handbook, file templates and CTE-related reference documents can be downloaded from the Documents for Download page.
