These folders provide the local board of education with numerous resources to assist in fulfilling their responsibilities. Boards of education roles are primarily to:

• understand the components of the mentoring plan;
• give district approval and support to mentoring and induction; and
• support ongoing program evaluation through monitoring.

Once approved, the local mentoring plan is sent to the county superintendent. The county superintendent will report the approvals to the Department of Education.
