School Leaders

New Jersey Professional Development Initiative for School Leaders

STEP EIGHT: Evidence of Professional Growth
This regulatory step requires documentation of professional learning activities and a narrative detailing attainment of your professional development goals at the end of the professional development cycle to support certification of the completion of your plan.
•School administrator certification: required to provide evidence of completion of the plan to their peer review committee at the end of a three to five year cycle depending upon the individual’s contract with the district board of education. The New Jersey Association of School Administrators is responsible for certifying completion of the plan to both the New Jersey Department of Education and the local board of education.
•Principal and supervisor certification: the plan will be certified by their superintendent through an annual statement of assurance in the QAAR, made to the New Jersey Department of Education at the conclusion of each three year professional development cycle.
