| SUBJECT: | Emergency Management for Schools Training |
The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) wants to make you aware of an Emergency Management for Schools Training for Local Education Agencies being offered by the U.S. Department of Education's Office (USDE) of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (OSDFS). The Emergency Management for Schools training is a one and one- half day training designed to provide schools and school districts with information and resources on emergency management. This training presents an exciting opportunity for school-based staff and administrators from Local Educational Agencies (LEA) or nonpublic schools to acquire requisite knowledge to help develop effective, all-hazards emergency management plans. It will emphasize emergency management plan development and enhancement within the framework of the four phases of emergency management: prevention/mitigation; preparedness; response; and recovery.
Training dates, locations and registration information are on the attached flyer. Because participation is limited to 125 people per training, only one representative per LEA or nonpublic school will be eligible to attend on a first come first serve basis. In an effort to assist the USDE with the cost of lodging and materials, there will be a $100 registration fee required for each participant. Registered participants living more than 50 miles away are eligible to receive up to two nights of complimentary lodging in the conference hotel.
This training is primarily targeted to LEAs that do not have an OSDFS Emergency Response and Crisis Management (ERCM) grant. If you are a current or previous ERCM grantee and are interested in being added to a wait list for this training, or if you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact your federal project officer directly.
If you have any questions about this training event, or who is eligible to attend, please contact Elizabeth Eaton at eeaton@icfcaliber.com or (703) 219-4329. Additional information is available at http://www.sei2003.com/ERCM/ERCM_PA_MO/registration.asp.
