SOCIAL SERVICES

The NJDOE is committed to helping schools provide and connect families to a network of support services to strengthen students’ resilience and promote personal and intellectual growth. The NJDOE collaborates with the Department of Children and Families, the Department of Human Services and Institutions of Higher Education to provide training, technical assistance and resources to schools to assist their Intervention and Referral Services Teams, Educational Stability Specialists, Substance Awareness Coordinators, Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists and Child Study Teams.  The cooperative interagency coordination supports the identification of available services to help schools support children and families, youth in foster care,  child behavioral health, child abuse and neglect, mental health concerns, suicide and other traumatic loss, substance abuse and domestic violence by providing or referring them to available services.
