Following his assignment at Fort Ord, Colonel Christian attended the Infantry Officer’s Advanced Course in 1989. His next assignment was with the 1st Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery, and the 25th Infantry Division (Light) from 1989 to 1992. During his assignment at Schofield barracks, he served as Battalion Logistics Officer, followed by a tour as the Assistant Secretary of the General Staff before assuming command of Battery A, 1st Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery.
From 1992 to 1995, Colonel Christian served as an Air Defense Officer’s Advanced Course Small Group Instructor at Fort Bliss, Texas before attending the United States Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Upon graduation from the Command and General Staff College, he served as the Assistant Division Air Defense Officer and Battalion Operations Officer in the 3rd Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York.
Colonel Christian’s most recent assignments include Deputy Director, Command Protocol for the United States Space Command, North American Aerospace Command, and Air Force Space Command from 1998-1999. Following that assignment, he served two years as the Executive Officer to the United States Space Command Director of Plans (J5). His last assignment before returning to the 25th Infantry Division was as the Deputy TRADOC System Manager for Ground-based Midcourse Defense, formerly known as the National Missile Defense Program.
Colonel Christian served as the Battalion Commander of the 1st Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment for three years and served as Battalion Commander and Deputy Director of Operations, Combined Forces Command- Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom V from February 2004 to February 2005. Following Command, Colonel Christian served as a Congressional Legislative Liaison for the Secretary of the Army.
Colonel Christian’s civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology from Park University, Missouri, a Master of Science inAdministration from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Security Strategy from the National War College, National Defense University, at Fort McNair, Washington DC. Colonel Christian’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, and the Parachutist and Air Assault Badges.
