About

First Lady Mary Pat Christie

Mary Pat Christie, First Lady of New Jersey, has successfully combined her roles as wife and mother with a business career and community service. Born in Paoli, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Christie is the 9th of 10 children. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware and received her Master's in Business Administration and Finance at Seton Hall University. She most recently worked as a Managing Director at Angelo Gordon in New York City.

In 2010, Mrs. Christie founded New Jersey Heroes, which recognizes outstanding New Jersey citizens and inspires New Jersey Pride. To date, 48 deserving citizens and non-profits have been awarded grants who encourage others to give back to their community.

Following the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012, Mrs. Christie founded and chaired the New Jersey Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund to aid and rebuild communities most affected by the storm. The fund raised over $37.8 million in grants and distributed this amount to help thousands of impacted families throughout New Jersey.

Mrs. Christie is also passionate about the Governor’s Residence in Princeton, officially known as Drumthwacket. Through her work with the Drumthwacket Foundation, thousands of New Jersey citizens and schoolchildren will continue to have the opportunity to experience this historic house and grounds. Drumthwacket features modern artwork by local artists and is now compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Mrs. Christie and her husband, Governor Chris Christie, met in college and have been married for 31 years. They have 4 children: Andrew, Sarah, Patrick and Bridget.
