Acting Governor Guadagno Addresses Hundreds at the League of Municipalities Luncheon

99th Annual Conference Focuses on Building Partnerships for Prosperity in New Jersey

Trenton, NJ – Acting Governor Kim Guadagno today joined the New Jersey State League of Municipalities (NJLM) at its 99th Annual Conference luncheon, “Partnerships for Prosperity.”  The Acting Governor encouraged municipal officials to work with businesses and other levels of government to make the most of their resources and bring jobs to their communities.

“We may not win every fight for jobs but we want to be in every fight,” said Acting Governor Guadagno.  “We must act to confront problems, to work together to find solutions, and to implement them.  But without a partnership with business, without a climate that welcomes businesses – and the jobs that follow – we fail our communities.  When every level of government partners to create an environment that welcomes businesses, it works.”

Acting Governor Guadagno’s remarks came on the final day of the three-day conference held at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The NJLM Conference is the largest municipal conference and trade show in the United States.  Approximately 18,000 municipal officials, exhibitors, program participants and guests were expected to attend more than 100 sessions and workshops held throughout the Conference.  Topics ranged from sustainability, cyber security and child care to workforce development, infrastructure and government transparency.

Today’s luncheon also recognized three individuals during an awards ceremony. Gary Sondermeyer, Vice President of Bayshore Recycling, received the Outstanding Corporate Citizen Award.  George Pruitt, President of Thomas Edison State College, and James Hughes, Dean of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers, were both honored with the Distinguished Public Service Award.
