Our Vision

The Office of Animal Welfare is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health, safety and welfare of companion animals in the state of New Jersey. The Office of Animal Welfare works to promote responsible pet care and to ensure that pets do not suffer due to abuse, neglect or lack of proper care.

 

Mission Statement

To ensure sanitary and humane conditions at pet shops, kennels, shelters and pounds through enforcement of New Jersey’s animal health and welfare rules and regulations;
To educate animal health and welfare professionals, pet owners, members of the animal trade profession, and the public regarding these rules and regulations;

To work in partnership with various government agencies and animal welfare organizations to promote animal health and welfare issues; and

To improve the lives of homeless animals in the state of New Jersey.
