Christina Tan, M.D. Assistant Commissioner for Epidemiology, Environmental and Occupational Health/State Epidemiologist Dr. Christina Tan, MD, MPH, is the Assistant Commissioner for Epidemiology, Environmental and Occupational Health/State Epidemiologist. Dr. Tan received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Master’s in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine/Primary Care at New York University Medical Center where she holds an adjunct clinical assistant professor appointment, and she is board-certified in internal medicine. Dr. Tan was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and was stationed at NJDOH during 2000 to 2002; she has been with NJDOH as the Medical Director of the Communicable Disease Service (2002 to 2005) and then as Deputy State Epidemiologist (2005 to 2008).
