Avian influenza or "bird flu" is an influenza virus found mainly in wild birds. Since 1997, a strain of avian influenza has been found in humans as well as birds.
Several hundred people in Asia and Europe have contracted this strain of avian flu from direct contact from poultry.
To date, threr is no confirmed evidence of easy person to person transmission of this strain of avian influenza.
